In a few days we will mark the fourth anniversary of Anne’s passing. Remembrance Day – Eve now holds a deeper resonance.
I’m sure every author expresses their works as ‘labours of love’. That is most definitely the case with All Will Be Well. Its completion and release at this time are more happenstance than good planning.
All Will Be Well reflects on our journey through Anne’s illness. It is also a tribute to a most amazing woman. I reflect on the love she shared. She nurtured the family. She built the home. I recall the sacrifices she made. She showed us courage and inner peace through her long trial.
Drawing on anecdotes from a journal I kept over the nearly four-year journey together, I like to think I have touched on themes common to many people faced with, or supporting others with life-limiting illness.
I hope that this small book is of some help to others taking a similar journey.
In our Catholic Tradition, we often look to Saints from the past to teach us. They encourage us along the journey of life. They help us reach towards goodness and wholeness.
Anne was no saint, and yet she held in abundance qualities of character that made how she dealt with dying and death a reflection of the life she had lived.
Cheers,
Paul
